Going to Tours

Travelling by air

There are two airports in Paris: Charles de Gaulle and Orly. After landing, you’ll have to take a train to Tours (see ‘Travelling by train’). In order to do this, you may first have to go to gare Montparnasse train station which is located in downtown Paris

Arriving at Charles de Gaulle airport (CDG)

There are few direct trains between the airport and the TGV station of Tours (see ‘Travelling by train’). Otherwise, you must go to Montparnasse train station (around one hour):

  • by Air France bus line 4 (tickets may be purchased on board)
  • by RER and Metro: take RER B, change at Denfert-Rochereau station for Metro Line 4 (direction Porte de Clignancourt) or 6 (direction Charles de Gaulle Etoile), and exit at Montparnasse Bienvenue station.

Taking the bus is probably easier.

Arriving at Orly airport

There are no direct trains between the airport and the TGV station of Tours (see ‘Travelling by train’). You must go to Montparnasse train station (around one hour):

  • by Air France bus line 1 (tickets may be purchased on board)
  • by OrlyBus to Denfert-Rochereau and then by Metro from Denfert-Rochereau station to Montparnasse Bienvenue station, either via Metro Line 4 (direction Porte de Clignancourt) or 6 (direction Charles de Gaulle Etoile)
  • by OrlyVal until Antony RER B station, then take RER B until Denfert-Rochereau station, change for Metro Line 4 (direction Porte de Clignancourt) or 6 (direction Charles de Gaulle Etoile), and exit at Montparnasse Bienvenue station.

Again taking the bus is probably easier.
